Project StoriesMajor retailer
New policies and standards save the day.
Defensible Disposition Policy
The solution drew out the need for a policy that would address how the client would implement the project and actually start deleting content that did not meet the definition of a record. The end result was the ability to finally dispose of information deemed to be ROT (“redundant, obsolete and trivial”).
Alignment and New Standards
A major retailer realized that they were stockpiling too much information. They wanted to start disposition efforts after realizing that they were retaining electronic information for too long, and for information that was not even deemed a record. In addition, their plan included a new implementation of an enterprise content management system, so they wanted to “clean house” before migrating.
We interviewed key stakeholders within the IT team and drafted a new standard including a process that addressed defensible disposition and orphaned data. During draft phases, we aligned and tested the process with migration technologies available to the client.
